'09 Babies & Young Stock 1.
'The White Gold Stud' - '09 Bred Birds
Well, the '09 babies are coming through nicely, and the quality is very good. We have photographed a few from the first round's and will photograph more and hopefully, some better birds over the coming weeks. Some of the early lutino's and albino's are of very good quality, with a few showing early sign's of 'star quality'. However, some of the early normal's, are really catching the eye of visitor's. Take a look below and see what you think of the few we have photographed at randum ..........
Photo 1
The grey and grey green above, are both 4/5 weeks old and from our A.1. line. We particularly like the normal grey cock. He should end up a fine show bird. His half brother from last year, was shown once, and was awarded 'Best Breeder in Show', before he was sold. The grey green has been sold to a breeder in Ireland.
Photo 2
The lovely albino hen in photo 2, is from our WS.A. line, which is producing some very high quality albino's. We believe that this hen is showing a bit of 'star quality', even at her very young age of 5 weeks. The mother of this bird is a sister to the hen which was 'Best Young Stock Bird in Show' at the National show last year.
Photo 3
This pied is a big solid bird for 5 weeks old. Another bird from our 'lutolf' line that should turn out O.K., but is one that will probably be sold at a later date, as there are two, possibly even three, better babies in the nest of 4. The parent birds have 3 full eggs again.
Photo 4
The bird in photo 4, is from our 'lutolf' line. Showing typical european feature's, of facial directional feather and a deep mask. This very young bird will turn out well and will carry essential features into next year's chicks, if not sold before then, as there are two more chicks in the nest of similar quality. The parent birds have another 3 full eggs.
Photo 5
The lutino shown in photo 5, is another bird from our WS/L line. A 'big handfull' for it's tender age of 4/5 weeks. Should make a decent bird and will probably be sold at a later date, as the other bird in the nest is a hen with more 'width' that we like a lot better and the parent birds have 4 more full eggs again.
Photo 6
Yet another promising baby green from our 'lutolf' line. This bird is already displaying some of the good features of our 'lutolf' line at 5 weeks old and will end up a good budgerigar. There is a much better cock bird in the nest, that we will probably keep, so the bird photographed will probably be sold at a later date.
Photo 7
The bird in photo 7 is off our A.1. line and is a decent bird for 5/6 weeks old. The bird has now been sold to a breeder in Ireland.
Photo 8
The baby lutino hen shown in photo 8, will probably end up a top quality lutino and is already displaying a wee bit of 'star quality'. Photgraphed at only 4/5 weeks old, this is a lovely bird for a redeye, with excellent size. She is off our WS.L. line, which is producing some excellent lutino's. This line produced two lutino's last year that won 'Best in Show'. The same line also produced a lutino cock bird that we sold to a redeye specialist in England and he won 5 C.C.'s from 5 shows in England, with the bird. The brother of the bird we sold, is the father of this baby hen.
Photo 9
Photo 9, displays a very good baby from our Lutolf line. This line produces excellent european style birds, which are very valuable to our overall stud. This baby is only 5/6 weeks old, but is showing typical european style features. This baby is from a nest of 5 and the parents have 4 full eggs again. Hence, the bird has now been sold to a delighted breeder in England.
Photo 10
Well, photo 10 contains a really good 4/5 week old baby lutino, displaying redeye top quality. This hen is off our WS/O.L. line, which in the past, has produced some super lutino's and is doing so again this year. This hen has 3 nest sisters, which are all lutino's and two of them are probably better than the bird in the photo. The parents have 3 full eggs again, so we are very pleased with this pairing.
Photo 11
Photo 11, displays a different type of bird, that is only 4/5 weeks old and was bred down from our A.1. line. This is what we call a 'bulk' bird, as their body size, is much bigger than the average. They are not so appealing to the eye, but excell in size in most features. Without question, they have a place in a stud, but must be used carefully and with a finer feathered partner. A bit like using a buff bird, but you must be much more carefull. We have successfully used this type of bird in the past, but they are difficult to work with.
Photo 12
This young lutino cock bird shown in photo 12, is a 'SUPER' bird and was bred from our 'Manmololf' line. The bird has very good blood in it and will probably make an excellent show bird. We've already had many offers for him, but we can't let him go untill he produces for us.
Photo 13
Here, in photo 13, we have a very good baby albino from our WS.A. line, which produced the albino hen that won the National Young Stock show last year. That same hen is the mother of this baby. At 4/5 weeks old, there is not much wrong with this hen. We've already had offers for her and her nest mates, but we will wait untill she gets a bit older before we sell her. She has a nest brother and two nest sisters, every bit as good as her and the parents have 5 full eggs again, so we will let some of this family go later.
2009 Baby Birds
All the birds above were photographed in February and at randum from our first round chicks. They may not be our best, but will give you a general idea of how our '09 first round turned out. 87 chicks were ringed in the first round and the quality was very good. There are a few 'special' birds amongst them. In particular, a grey cock bird that has not been photographed yet, so we are very pleased and looking forward to the second round. We will change the photo's on this page in a few weeks time and we thank you for taking the time to view this page.
Please continue to visit and hopefully enjoy, the remainder of our site.
